OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM
SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING, SUBJECT TO
THE CONDITIONS STATED, CASE NO. 3.1474, AN
APPLICATION BY LEONARDO E. MARMOL FOR A 98 '
SQUARE-FOOT ADDITION TO AN EXISTING CLASS
I HISTORIC RESIDENCE (THE LOWEY HOUSE),
LOCATED AT 600 PANORAMA ROAD, R-1-13 ZONE,
SECTION 3.

WHEREAS, Leonardo E. Marmol of Marrnol and Radziner Architects, (the "applicant")
has filed an application with the City pursuant to Section 9404.00 of the Zoning Ordinance
for Architectural Approval Case No. 3.1474 for a proposed 98 square-foot addition to and
existing Class I historic residence(the Lowey House), located at 600 Panorama Road, R-1-
B zone, Section 3; and
WHEREAS, the proposed addition is contemplated to provide a hallway between the main
living area and the master bedroom; and
WHEREAS, on April 13, 1999, the Historic Site Preservation Board(RSPB)reviewed the
application in accordance with applicable law and recommended approval of the addition
to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on April 28, 1999, the Planning Commission reviewed the application in '
accordance with applicable law and recommended approval of the addition to the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Springs reviewed the application at their
May 5, 1999 meeting in accordance with applicable law; and
WHEREAS, the proposed application is categorically exempt pursuant to the terms of the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)per Section 15303 (New Construction and
Conversion of Small Structures); and
WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully reviewed and considered all of the evidence
presented in connection with the project, including, but not limited to the staff report and
all written and oral testimony presented.
THE CITY COUNCIL HEREBY FINDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1_ Pursuant to CEQA, the City Council finds as follows:
The project is categorically exempt from the requirements of CEQA pursuant to '
Section 15303 (New Construction and Conversion of Small Structures) of the
CEQA guidelines.
Section 2_ Pursuant to Zoning Ordinance Section 9404.00, the City Council finds than,
with the Conditions of Approval incorporated herein by reference, the

proposed application will not have a significant negative detrimental
aesthetic impact on the community and is not detrimental to existing uses
or to future uses specifically permitted with this zone or with uses and or
zoning designations in the immediate area in which the proposed is to be
located.
' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, based upon the foregoing, the City
Council hereby approves Case No. 3.1474, subject to those conditions set forth in Exhibit
A, on file in the office of the City Clerk, which are to be satisfied prior to recordation of
a final map or the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy, unless other specified.
