HomeMy WebLinkAbout19395 - RESOLUTIONS - 11/4/1998 ' RESOLUTION NO. 19395 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, VARIETY CHILDREN'S CHARITIES OF THE DESERT (VCCD), AND THE CONTRACTOR, MIRACLE PLAYGROUND SALES, THAT WOULD ALLOW REPLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING PLAY STRUCTURES AT SUNRISE PARK; AND APPROVING THE FUNDING OF $15,000 FROM THE RUTH HARDY PLAY STRUCTURE ACCOUNT FOR RECYCLED RUBBERIZED SURFACING BENEATH THE NEW PLAY STRUCTURES AND REPLACEMENT OF SAND THROUGHOUT THE REMAINING PLAY AREA TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT. WHEREAS,the Variety Children's Charities of the Desert(VCCD)has offered to donate a new play structure for Sunrise Park; and WHEREAS,the new play structure will have a positive impact on the children using Sunrise Park; 1 and WHEREAS, VCCD has agreed to remove the old play structure and install the new play structure at no cost to the City; and WHEREAS, VCCD has requested that this donated play structure be dedicated in memory of two VCCD volunteers; and WHEREAS, it is desired to increase the amount and area of the recycled rubberized surfacing for disabled access; and WHEREAS, it is desired to replace the underlying sand material at the new play structure; and WHEREAS, an agreement between the parties needs to be created to formalize these undertakings, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs: Section 1. That staff and the City Attorney are authorized to formulate an agreement between the City of Palm Springs,VCCD, and the contractor, Miracle Playground Sales, that will allow for the removal and replacement of existing play structures at Sunrise Park. ' Section 2. That funding from the Ruth Hardy Play Structure account is approved for recycled rubberized surfacing and replacement of sand throughout the remaining play area at Sunrise Park to complete the project in an amount not to exceed $15,000. R19395 ^�jV7 � Page 2 Section 3. That the concept of dedicating the play structures in memory of two deceased VCCD ' volunteers, Chuck Thompson and John Zavislak, is hereby approved.
