HomeMy WebLinkAbout19373 - RESOLUTIONS - 10/7/1998RESOLUTION NO. 19373 ' OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING LIMITED PARKING ON INDIAN CANYON DRIVE AND BELARDO ROAD WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs is experiencing a shortage of parking in the downtown, a symptom of a vibrant tourist economy; and WHEREAS the City has begun the process of upgrading and expanding its municipal parking lots in the downtown; and WHEREAS the City Council has adopted Resolution No._19373 , establishing a downtown managed parking program which includes the allowance for employee parking with permits in 2-hour parking zones on Belardo Road and Indian Canyon Drive; and WHEREAS the City Council has determined that on -street employee permit parking will not adversely affect the parking in the downtown area; and WHEREAS, Section 12.32.010 of the Municipal Code authorizes the establishment of ' time limited parking areas on certain streets, to be established by the City Council by Resolution. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, as follows: 1. That Indian Canyon Drive and Belardo Road, between Alejo Road and Ramon Road be established as 2-hour time limit parking zones. 2. That preferential parking areas for employees of downtown businesses be allowed by special permit during empoyee daily work hours, as provided for in the City's downtown managed parking program. 3. That those parking areas be established by signs and/or markings by the City's Traffic Engineer in conformance with Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code.
