HomeMy WebLinkAbout19228 - RESOLUTIONS - 4/15/1998 RESOLUTION NO. 19228 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE RECOMMENDED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 1998-99; AND AUTHORIZING: THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SUBRECIPIENT AGREEMENTS FOR 1998-99 COMMdUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City is eligible to receive an entitlement of $621, 000 of Community Development Block Grant funds as entitlement: city under the Department of Housing & Urban Development Regulations, and WHEREAS, the City has approximately $22, 530 available in existing Community Development Block Grant accounts which need to be: reprogrammed into new eligible projects; and WHEREAS, there remains $161, 500 in the City' s line-oE-credit at: the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, which is; available for reprogramming; WHEREAS, the funds must be used for eligible activities which principally benefit low and moderate income people, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of citizen involvement, a public hearing was held to receive citizen input on the allocation of these funds, and WHEREAS, the projects have been assessed by staff based on needs of low and moderate income neighborhoods to benefit the maximum number of people, and ' WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing to receive: public input on the allocation of these funds, and NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, does hereby approve the following: SECTION 1. Allocations of Community Development Block Grant Eunding for 1998-99: Desert Highland Literacy Program $ 10, 000 . Mizell Senior Center/ Furniture & Equipment 10, 000. Catholic Charities/ Homeless Outreach Program 15, 000. Food In Need of Distribution 10, 000. Palm Springs Youth Center 30, 000. Mizell Senior Center Parking Lot: 60, 000. Boys & Girls Club Gym Remodel 30, 000. Community Preservation/ Planning Dept. 55, 000 . Alano Club Parking Lot 23, 830. Crossley Tract Drainage Imprv. 120, 000. Senior Home Repair Program 55, 000 . CV Small Business Development Center 14, 500 . ' Desert. AIDS Project Re-employment Program 50, 000. PS Economic Development Corporation 36, 000. Desert AIDS Project Leasehold Imprv. 161, 500 . The City Manager is authorized to execute Subrecipient Agreements, in a form approved by the City Attorney, for the 1998-99 Community Development Block Grant funds as allocated by this resolution.
