HomeMy WebLinkAbout19209 - RESOLUTIONS - 3/4/1998 RESOLUTION NO. 19209 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PERSONS TO FILE APPLICATIONS FOR FEDERAL FUNDING WITH THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES ' - - - - - - - - - - - - - WHEREAS, Federal funding for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is provided under the Robert T. Stafford Emergency Assistance and Disaster Relief Act, by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and through the Slate of California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES); and WHEREAS, OES has invited agencies to apply for funding assistance under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, to aid in funding projects aimed at reducing or eliminating future flood damage; and WHEREAS, a requirement for filing such an application is to authorize, by City Council resolution, certain persons to execute said application and provide information to OES necessary for their evaluation and implementation thereof. NOW THEREFORE BE 1T RESOLVED by tine City Council of the City of Palm Springs, that Allen Smoot, Director of Transportation, or David Barakian, City Engineer, are hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City of Palm Springs, a local government entity established under the laws of the State of California, the attached ' applications and to file it in the Governor's Office of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, P.L. 93-288, as amended. That the City of Palm Springs hereby authorizes its agent to provide to the Governor's Office of Emergency Services for all matters pertaining to such disaster assistance the assurances and agreements required. PASSED and APPROVED this 4th day of March, 1999.
