HomeMy WebLinkAbout19205 - RESOLUTIONS - 3/4/1998 RESOLUTION NO. 19205 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, , CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING NAMING OF THE MID- VALLEY PARKWAY BRIDGE THE "DINAH SHORE BRIDGE", AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING OPENING OF THE ROADWAY AND BRIDGE TO TRAFFIC UPON COMPLETION OF THE MID-VALLEY PARKWAY CONSTRUCTION WHEREAS, on June 19, 1996, City Council awarded construction contract: for the Mid-Valley Parkway project to Granite Construction and the project included a 4-lane bridge over the Whitewater River as well as the extension of Mesquite Avenue as a 4- lane arterial from the bridge to Gene Autry Trail; and WHEREAS the project is a joint City of Palm Springs, Cathedral City and CVAG project, with the City of Palm Springs as the lead agency; and WHEREAS, the projected completion of the bridge and roadway will occur in early April, 1998; and WHEREAS, An approved bridge construction plats included monument signs at each approach to the bridge, which are to include a bridge name; and ' WHEREAS, the City of Cathedral City has authorized use of the name "Dinah Shore Bridge". NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, as follows: 1. That the Mid-Valley Parkway bridge be named the "Dinah Shore Bridge". 2. That the roadway and bridge be open to traffic upon completion of the Mid-Valley Parkway construction. ADOPTED this 4th day of March 1998.
