HomeMy WebLinkAbout18828 - RESOLUTIONS - 5/15/1996 RESOLUTION NO. 18828 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGSr CALIFORNIAo APPROVING THE RECOMMENDED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996-97; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SUBRECIPIENT AGREEMENTS FOR 1996-97 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City is eligible to receive an entitlement of $644, 000 of Community Development Block Grant funds as entitlement city under the Department of Housing & Urban Development Regulations, and WHEREAS, , the City has approximately $29, 480 available in existing Community Development Block Grant accounts which need to be reprogrammed into new eligible projects; and ' WHEREAS, the funds must be used for eligible activities which principally benefit low and moderate income people, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of citizen involvement, the CDBG Citizen's Advisory Committee has held a public hearing to receive citizen input on the allocation of these funds, and WHEREAS, the projects have been assess by staff and the Citizen's Advisory Committee, based on needs of low and moderate income neighborhoods to benefit the maximum number of people, and WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing to receive public input on the allocation of these funds, and NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, does hereby approve the following: SECTION 1. Allocations of Community Development Block Grant funding for 1996-97: C.A.R.E. Program Operation $ 3 , 000. Boys & Girls Club Computers 6, 000. Fair Housing Council 23, 084 . ' Shelter from the Storm 5, 750. F.I.N.D. Van 8, 000. Desert Highland Literacy Program 12 , 000. Institute of Critical Care CPR/AED Training 7, 000. Palm Springs Boxing Club 3, 000. Mizell Senior Center Equipment 7,500. Desert AIDS Project Operations 30, 000. C. V.
