OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM
SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACTS OF
THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEMBER 7,
1995, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND
SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY ,
LAW.
WHEREAS a Consolidated General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Palm Springs,
California, on November 7, 1995, as required by law; and
WHEREAS notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time, form and marmer as provided by law;
that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects
said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and the returns made
and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the Stale of
California for the holding of elections in cities; and
WHEREAS on July 19, 1995, the City Council called a Special Municipal election to be consolidated with
said Consolidated General Municipal Election, for the purpose of placing an initiative measure concerning
gaming; and
WHEREAS on July 19, 1995, the City Council called a Special Municipal election to be consolidated with
said Consolidated General Municipal Election, for the purpose of placing a referendum measure concerning
the .Airport Master Plan; and
WHEREAS pursuant to Resolution 1.8639 adopted June 21, 1995, the Registrar of Voters of the County of
Riverside has canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the results to this City Council, and said '
results are received, attached and made a part hereof as Exhibit A,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, as follows:
Section 1. That there were forty voting precincts established or the purpose of holding said election
consisting of consolidations of the regular elections precincts in said City as established
for the holding of slate and county elections.
Section 2. That said regular Consolidated General Municipal Election was held far the propose of
electing the following officers of said City as required by laws relating: to cities in the
State of California, to-wit:
one Mayor for a four-year term; and two Members of the City Council each for a four-
year term.
Section 3. That said Consolidated General Municipal Election was held for the purpose of
submitting the following measures to the electors of said City; to-wit:
MEASURE L
Shall the Ordinance adopting an amendment to the General Plan for the City of Palm
Springs to allow legal gaming in the City of Palm Springs, adopting an amendment to
Palm Springs Zoning Ordinance to establish a gaming overlay zone, and! authorizing the
establishment of gaming clubs within the City and specifying criteria therefore, be '
adopted?
MEASURE M
Shall the Airport Master Plan and its component parts and related General Plan Text
amendments, as approved by the City Council on May 17, 1995, be adopted?
Section 4. That the whole number of votes cast in said City (except absent voter ballots) was
7,383. / 6
That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City was 3,317, making a / "'
total of 10,720 votes cast in said City.

Section 5. That the names of persons voted for at said election for Mayor of said City are, as
follows:

Section 6. That the names of persons voted for at said election for Member of the City Council of
said City are, as follows:
Stanley "Stan" Barnes Michael L. "Mike" Johnson
Johnathan De La Torre Robert "Bob" Lee
William E. Drury Eric G. Meeks
Steve Grasha Ronald "Ron" Oden
Charles "Chuck" Hubbard Richard J. "Dick" O'Linn
Curtis "Curt" Johnson Jeanne Reller-Spurgin
Section 7. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the
City to each of such persons above named for the respective offices for which said
person was a candidate, and for and against each of the measures, are as listed in
Exhibit A attached hereto.
Section 8. The City Council does hereby declare and determine that:
Stanley "Stan"Barnes and Jeanne Reller-Spurgin were elected to a full four-year term
as a Member of the City Council; and
' William G. Kleindienst was elected to a full four-year term as Mayor.
Section 9. That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters voting on Measure
L relating to the gaming initiative did vote in favor thereof, and that said measure was
approved.
That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters voting on Measure
M relating to the Airport Master Plan did vote in favor thereof, and that the adoption
of Resolution 18604 was approved.
Section 10. That the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such person so
elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and duly authenticated; that
the City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected, the Oath of Office prescribed
in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto,
and file the same in the Office of the City Clerk. Whereupon, each and all of said
persons so elected shall be included into the respective office to which they have been
elected.
ADOPTED this 5th day of December, 1995.
