OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM
SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING
RECOMMENDED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT FUNDING BUDGET FOR FISCAL
YEAR 1994-95.
WHEREAS, the City is eligible to receive an entitlement of $561,000 of Community
Development Block Grant funds as a entitlement city under the Department of Housing &
Urban Development Regulations, and
WHEREAS, the City has approximately $26,582 available in existing Community
Development Block Grant accounts which need to be reprogrammed into new eligible projects;
and
WHEREAS, the funds must be used for eligible activities which principally benefit low
and moderate income people, and
TREAS, pursuant to the Citizen's Participation Plan adopted by the City Council,
the Citizen's Advisory Committee has held a public hearing to receive citizen input on the
allocation of these funds, and
WHEREAS, the projects have been assessed by staff and the Citizen's Advisory
Committee, based on needs of low and moderate income neighborhoods to benefit the
maximum number of people.
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing to receive public input on the
allocation of these funds, and
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs,
California, does hereby approve the following allocations for the Community Development
Block Grant funding:
Alternatives to Domestic Violence $ 11000.
Desert Aids Project 12,000.
Desert Highland Job Training Operation
Pushout/Palm Springs Adult School 15,000.
Mizell Senior CenterNan 7,000.
Desert Highland Literacy Program
Palm Springs Library 3,650.
F.I.N.D. 2,000.
Desert Highland Summer Tutorial C.V.
African/American Chamber of Commerce 9,000.
College of the Desert C.A.R.E. Program 1,000.
Nightengale Manor Emergency Shelter 8,500.
Palm Springs Youth Center Homework Room Operations 5,000.
Fair Housing Council 20,000.
Coachella Valley Housing Coalition/
Coyote Run Childcare Center 30,000.
