HomeMy WebLinkAbout18370 - RESOLUTIONS - 4/20/1994 RESOLUTION NO. 18370 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING COUNCIL OPPOSITION TO "THE MOBILEHOME FAIRNESS AND RENTAL ASSISTANCE ACT" - - - - - - - - - - WHEREAS mobilehome park owners are currently circulating petitions to try to qualify "The Mobilehome Fairness and Rental Assistance Act" (the "Act'), a statewide initiative which would drastically restrict existing rent control ordinances; and WHEREAS the name of the Act is misleading and misrepresents the true intent of the Act; and WHEREAS the Act, if approved by the voters, would take away current rent control protections; and WHEREAS the Act would be contrary to the best interest of those residing in mobilehome parks as well as all future residents of mobilehome parks. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, that it hereby declares its opposition to the initiative measure titled "The Mobilehome Fairness and Rental Assistance Act' because it appears to be misleading and would limit, and ultimately remove, local and state rent control laws. ADOPTED this 20th day of April , 1994.
