HomeMy WebLinkAbout18357 - RESOLUTIONS - 4/6/1994 RESOLUTION NO. 18357 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE CONCEPT OF AN AMENDMENT ' TO THE BYLAWS OF THE PALM SPRINGS DESERT RESORTS CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU JOINT POWERS AUTHORITY TO ALLOW FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN AIRLINE SERVICE COUNCIL, APPROVE A FUNDING FORMULA TO SUPPORT COUNCIL ACTIVITIES AND COMMIT THE FIRST YEAR' S FUNDING. WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs wishes to encourage the growth of airline service at Palm Springs Regional Airport, and; WHEREAS the down sizing of the airline industry threatens to reduce the number of jet flights into the airport, especially during the summer months; and WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs wishes to foster the establishment of an Airline Service Council within the Joint Powers Authority that governs the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Convention and Visitors Bureau to counteract this trend; and WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs wishes to join with the other cities that make up the Joint Powers Authority in providing a source of stable funding for the three year program that the ' Airlines Services Council has outlined. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, as follows: Section 1. That the concept of amending the bylaws of the Joint Powers Authority to provide for the establishment of an Airline Service Council is hereby approved. Section 2 . That the prescribed funding formula for the Airline Service Council is hereby approved. Section 3 . That the City of Palm Springs' commitment to fund the Airline Service Council in the amount of $50, 000, is hereby approved. ADOPTED this 6th day of April, 1994 .
