HomeMy WebLinkAbout18245 - RESOLUTIONS - 12/1/1993 i RESOLUTION NO. 18245 ' OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS ELECTING TO BE SUBJECT TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' • MEDICAL AND HOSPITAL CARE ACT ONLY WITH RESPECT TO MEMBERS OF THE FIRE MANAGEMENT BARGAINING UNIT AND FIXING THE EMPLOYER'S CONTRIBUTION AT AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN THAT PRESCRIBED BY SECTION 22825 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE WHEREAS Government Code Section 22350. 3 provides that a contracting agency may elect upon proper application to participate under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care Act (the "Act") , and it's accompanying Regulations, with M respect to a recognized employee organization only; and WHEREAS The City of Palm Springs is a local agency contracting with the Public Employees' Retirement System; and WHEREAS The City of Palm Springs desires to obtain for the members of the Fire Management Unit who are employees and annuitants of the City, the benefits of the Act and to accept the liabilities and obligations of an employer under the Act and it's accompanying Regulations; - + NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Section 1. That the City of Palm Springs hereby elects, and ' it does hereby elect, to be subject to the provisions of the Act; and Section 2 . That the City's contribution, as employer, for each employee or annuitant shall be the amount necessary to ' pay the full cost of his/her enrollment, including the enrollment of family members, in a health benefits plan or plans up to a maximum of $16. 00 per month plus administrative ' fees and Contingency Reserve Fund assessments; Section 3. That the City hereby appoints and directs, and it does hereby appoint and direct, the City Manager, and/or the designee, to file with the Board of Administration of the Public Employees' Retirement System a verified copy of this Resolution, and to perform on behalf of the City all functions required of it under the Act and Regulations of the Board of Administration; Section 4. That coverage under the Act be effective on January 1, 1994.
