OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING
THE REVISED GUIDELINES OF THE SENIOR
HOME REPAIR PROGRAM INDICATING AN
INCREASE IN THE GRANT TO $1000, AND �a
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO UPDATE ELIGIBLE
PROGRAM INCOME LIMITS ON AN ANNUAL "
BASIS AS PROVIDED BY THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT. '
WHEREAS, the City of Palm Springs is an entitlement city receiving ,
federal Community Development ;Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the r
Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, the use o:E these funds .are designed to specifically assist
the City's low and moderate income residents; and
WHEREAS, it has been the C'i.ty's desire to help the community's '
senior citizens who fall 'within the low income category by
establishing a CDBG--funded Senior Home Repair Program which
provides minor, yet necessary repairs to owner-occupied homes
within the City; and
WHEREAS, the existing program guidelines allow grants up to $500
per eligible household per year, which limits the necessary repairs
that can be accomplished; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the guidelines for the Senior Home
Repair Program be revised to make the program more effective.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
Palm Springs, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the revised guidelines as on file in the
office of the City Clerk, outlining program rules
is hereby approved.
SECTION 2 . That the allowable grant amount is hereby increased r
to $1000 per household/per year; and
SECTION 3 . That staff is authorized to adjust the income
eligibility :Levels to those set forth by the State
Department of Housing and Community Development
annually.
