HomeMy WebLinkAbout18079 - RESOLUTIONS - 4/21/1993 RESOLUTION NO. 18079 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 18031 AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO THE IMPLEMENT A REVISED GREENWASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM ' PRESENTED APRIL 13, 1993 WHEREAS, on December 2, 1992, the City Council adopted Ordinance 1429 amending chapter 6.04 of the Health and sanitation portion of the Municipal Code concerning section 6.04. 190 giving the City Manager the authority to direct the City's contract hauler in the setting of rates and collection schedules for municipal solid waste and recyclables; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to implement the greenwaste collection portion of the city's enhanced recycling program to meet the diversion requirements of the Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 (AB939) ; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved a Greenwaste Collection program by Resolution No. 18031 on January 26, 1993 ; and WHEREAS, a revised and more desirable greenwaste collection program was presented to the City Council at its Study Session on April 13, 1993; and ' WHEREAS, that revised program provides for one curbside greenwaste pick up per week and two backyard municipal solid waste pick ups per week NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs,as follows: Section 1. That the City Manager direct Palm Springs Disposal Services to implement the revised greenwaste collection portion of the enhanced recycling program no later than May 31, 1993 . Section 2 . That the City Manager and City Attorney are directed to prepare an appropriate amendment to the current franchise agreement with the changes necessary to implement the foregoing recommendation. Section 3 . That Resolution No. 18031 is hereby rescinded. ADOPTED this 21st day of April , 1993 .
