HomeMy WebLinkAbout18065 - RESOLUTIONS - 3/17/1993 RESOLUTION NO. 18065 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA RECOMMENDING TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THAT SIGN VARIANCE 1587 BE DENIED FOR THE PROPOSED AUTO/TRUCK/CONVENIENCE MART/FAST FOOD RESTAURANT WITH DRIVE-THROUGH LOCATED SOUTH OF I-10, NORTH OF GARNET AVENUE, AND WEST OF INDIAN CANYON DRIVE, SECTION 22 . WHEREAS Pilot Oil Corporation has applied to Riverside County for a sign variance and The County East Area Planning Council has approved said variance subject to certain conditions; and WHEREAS said sign variance will allow construction of a 400 square foot sign with a 60 foot height at the Interstate 10 at Indian Canyon interchange, a gateway entry into Palm Springs; and WHEREAS the Planning Commission considered the proposal at its regularly scheduled meeting of January 10, 1993 and voted to recommend denial of the sign variance; and WHEREAS the proposed sign is inconsistent with the goals and policies of the City Scenic Corridor Element of the General Plan; and WHEREAS the subject property is located adjacent to Interstate 10 and that an adequate sign location is available to construct project identification signs (s) and that sufficient grounds have not been established to support the granting of the subject variance; and WHEREAS the City Council has reviewed all evidence provided including but not limited to the staff report, plans, and all written and oral testimony, and agrees with the decision of the Planning Commission. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, after considering the evidence provided at the meeting does hereby recommend that the Board of Supervisors deny sign Variance 1587 .
