HomeMy WebLinkAbout18030 - RESOLUTIONS - 2/3/1993 RESOLUTION NO. 18030 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, APPROVING NEW RECYCLING SURCHARGE RATES TO FUND CITY-BASED DIVERSION PROGRAMS PURSUANT TO THE CITY'S RECYCLING PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DIRECT PALM SPRINGS DISPOSAL SERVICES TO COLLECT SAID SURCHARGE. WHEREAS, the City Council is aware that city-based programs aimed at diverting 25% of the municipal solid waste by the year 1995 need funding in order to meet those commitments made with the adoption of the City's Source Reduction and Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste Elements; and WHEREAS, the State of California allows for the: collection of a recycling surcharge to fund these programs; and WHEREAS, and additional$60,000 for fiscal year 1993l94 has been deemed necessary. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, that new Recycling Surcharge Rates as hereinafter specified are hereby approved and that the City Manager direct Palm Springs Disposal Services to increase the amount of the monthly Recycling Surcharge to 0.40 cents per residential unit and 0.96 cents per commercial entity, with this increase to become effective with that company's May 1 billing cycle.
