HomeMy WebLinkAbout18019 - RESOLUTIONS - 1/20/1993 RESOLUTION NO. 18019 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AIR-SERVICE INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR THE SUMMER OF 1993. WHEREAS the tourism economy of the area depends heavily on air transportation to bring tourists; and WHEREAS the volume of passengers who travel in August is one-fifth of the volume of passengers who travel in the month of March; and WHEREAS the Palm Springs Airport Commission and the City Council have worked diligently to encourage expanded air service in the summer months when passenger activity is at its lowest; and WHEREAS it is recognized by the Palm Springs Airport Commission and the City Council that it is difficult for the air carriers to experiment with unknown markets in the present economic times; and WHEREAS the Palm Springs Airport Commission and the City Council have found that revenue comes from, among other sources, airline rates and charges and from concession expenditures by the passengers, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs that the Palm Springs Regional Airport's air-service incentive program, "Freeport, Summer '93, " on file in the Office of the City Clerk, is hereby approved.
