HomeMy WebLinkAbout17979 - RESOLUTIONS - 11/4/1992 RESOLUTION NO. 17979 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING IRS SECTION 125 FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES FOR THE PERIOD 1 JANUARY 1, 1993 THROUGH AUGUST 31, 1994 WHEREAS Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code allows for the establishment of Flexible Spending Accounts for the payment of medical/dental insurance contributions, medical/dental expenses and child/dependant care expenses, pre-tax; and WHEREAS a Task Force which consisted of representatives from each of the City employee bargaining unit has recommend that Colonial Life and Accident Insurance provide optional supplemental insurance programs, available to employees at no cost to the City; and WHEREAS the Task Force has recommended that BenefitAmerica, Inc provide for the monthly y administration of the individual employee accounts, at a cost not to exceed $3 . 00, per month, per employee, at the employee's expense for the period January 1, 1993 through August 31, 1994. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California does hereby approve the following: 1. Model Plan Documents for Premium Only Accounts, Medical Reimbursement Accounts and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts; 2 . An Administration Agreement with BenefitAmerica, Inc. _ for the monthly administration of the flexible spending accounts at a cost not to exceed $3 . 00 per month, per ' employee, at the employee's expense for the period January 1, 1993 through August 31, 1994 ; 3 . The City Manager is authorized to execute all necessary documents as may be required for the implementation of the program, in a form reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
