RESOLUTION NO. 17960
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, `
CALIFORNIA, TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING CERTAIN
REGULATORY ORDINANCES TO FACILITATE THE 1992
PALM SPRINGS ROAD RACES EVENT.
WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs has designated the Palm Springs Road Races as a City -
sanctioned event; and
WHEREAS the City Council desired to facilitate the staging of the City -sanctioned event to
maximize revenue production; and
WHEREAS the City Council finds that certain regulatory ordinances, which are generally
deemed desirable and necessary, may nonetheless impede the conduct of special events; and
WHEREAS the City Council finds that in holding special events, the public interest and the
benefits derived therefrom outweigh the temporary public inconvenience; and
WHEREAS the City Council has enacted Chapter 6.12 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code
authorizing temporary suspension of regulatory ordinances.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs,
California, as follows:
Section 1. A. That the Palm Springs Road Races is a special event beneficial to the
community and its visitor -oriented economy. k
B. That the dates of the ;Palm Springs Road Races are from 6:00 a.m. on
November 19, 1992 through 12:00 midnight on November 23, 1992.
C. That Palm Springs Road Races is the event promoter, along: with their
construction and concession personnel, race drivers and racing officials.
D. That the venues are Ruth Hardy Park and the ]Palm Springs Convention
Center race site as designated in the Palm Springs Road Races brochure
on file in the office of the City Clerk.
E. That suspension is subject to the following conditions:
1. Promoter provides the City with a $24,685 cash deposit.
2. Promoter provides the City with a bond of $12,343.
3. Promoter provides the Palm Springs Convention Center with a
signed convention center rental agreement. `
4. Promoter provides the Palm Springs Convention Center with a
$6,000 cash deposit.
5. The foregoing bonds and agreements shall be in a form approved
by the City Attorney.
Section 2. That the following ordinances are hereby temporarily suspended for the special `
event designated in Section 1 above: Building Ordinance, Sign Ordinance, Zoning
Ordinance and Noise Ordinance. I aC l

Section 3. That the regulatory ordinances designated in Section 2 above shall remain in full
force and effect except as to the event, dates and persons or organizations as
designated in Section 1 above.
ADOPTED this 7th day of October 1992.
