HomeMy WebLinkAbout17938 - RESOLUTIONS - 9/2/1992 RESOLUTION NO. 17938 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, TEMPORARILY CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE GUS MACKER 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. WHEREAS the City supports various special events during the year to add excitement for residents and visitors; and WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs is proposing to produce the Gus Macker 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament October 10-11, 1992 in Palm Springs; and WHEREAS the tournament will provide a family-oriented activity, an rathletic challenge for participants and a positive economic impact on the City, with sections devoted to food, drink, children's activities and entertainment; and ' WHEREAS the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously recommends that the City Council approve the production of the Gus Macker 3- On-3 Basketball Tournament. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, as follows: Section 1. That the City Council finds that to allow the tournament to occur, the temporary closure of certain streets is necessary for the special event. This finding is made according to the California Vehicle Code Section 21101. Section 2 . That the temporary street closures shall begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, and end at 10: 00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, on Baristo Road from the Camelot Theatre east to the last entrance of the Palm Springs Mall. ADOPTED this 2nd day of September , 1992.
