HomeMy WebLinkAbout17924 - RESOLUTIONS - 8/12/1992 RESOLUTION NO. 17924 ` OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE WAIVER OF MINIMUM BUILDING PERMIT FEES IN CONNECTION WITH THE LOW INCOME EVAPORATIVE COOLER PROGRAM SPONSORED BY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON. WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs wishes to encourage energy conservation; and WHEREAS Southern California Edison has established a Public Utilities Commission approved program to provide no cost evaporative coolers to qualifying low income households; and WHEREAS Resolution 16319, as amended, establishes a minimum building permit fee of $35. 00 and; ' WHEREAS waiver of said minimum permit fee would encourage wider participation in said program. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: r SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the waiver, during the 1992/93 fiscal year, of minimum building permit fees, as described in Resolution 16319, as amended, and that only those fees normally associated with an evaporative cooler mechanical permit, exclusive of the minimum charges, shall be required. SECTION 2 . That the waiver of minimum building permit fees shall pertain only to the currently proposed program now provided by Southern California Edison and approved by the Public Utilities Commission to ' provide evaporative coolers to qualifying low income households, and shall not pertain to any other programs or persons unless specifically approved by the City Council.
