PALM t SPRINGS, CAL'1FOR11:1A, TEMPORARILY CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FESTIVAL OF THE CANYONS. WHEREAS the City supports various special events during the year to add excitement for residents and visitors; and + WHEREAS Universal Custom Promotions, which produces more than 80 festivals a year throughout California, is proposing to stage a Festival of the Canyons Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 :in downtown Palm Springs; and WHEREAS the festival will provide a cultural, artistic and entertainment experience, with sections devoted to the Ameri- can Indian, artists and fine art, children, food, drink and entertainment; and } WHEREAS the Park and Recreation Commission unanimously recom- mends that the City council sanction the Festival of the Canyons. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, as follows: Section 1. That the City Council finds that, to sanction the Festival of the Canyons and to allow it to occur, the temporary closure of certain streets is necessary for the special event. This finding is made according to the California Vehicle Code Section 21101. Section 2. That the temporary street closures shall begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 211 and end at J p.m. Sunday, Nov„ 1 on Indian Canyon ]Drive between Amado and Tahquitz Canyon Way, on the Andreas walkway and on ]Museum Drive from Tahquitz Canyon Way to the entryway to the Desert Fashion Plaza + parking structure.
