HomeMy WebLinkAbout17885 - RESOLUTIONS - 6/17/1992 RESOLUTION NO. 17885 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING JANUARY 1, 1993, AS THE IMPLEMENTATION DATE FOR THE ENHANCED RECYCLING PROGRAM AND BI-MONTHLY RESIDENTIAL BILLING PRACTICE WHEREAS on May 18, 1992 , the City Council approved Agreement No. 3082 with Palm Springs Disposal Services for solid waste management services for a period of ten years, commencing October 1, 1992; and WHEREAS said agreement provided for an enhanced recycling program, requiring weekly residential curbside collection of recycl.ables, a service increase from the current bi-weekly service level; and WHEREAS Palm Springs Disposal Services will be unable to re- ceive the necessary equipment to commence this new service ` level effective October 1, 1992; and WHEREAS Palm Springs Disposal Services has asked that the effective date, therefore, be changed to January 1, 1993; and WHEREAS said agreement also requires a change in residential billing frequency from quarterly in advance to bi-monthly in advance; and WHEREAS Palm Springs Disposal Services has requested that the effective date of this billing change be made effective January 1, 1993 , to allow the company to install new computer equipment and software, and to coordinate the company's billing cycles with other provisions of the agreement which allow for rate increases on January 1 of future years; and WHEREAS the City Council has considered the request for changes in the implementation dates for these two contract provisions. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, that the implementation dates for weekly collection of recyclable materials from residential customers (Section 5.10 of Agreement No. 3082) and the billing cycle for residential accounts (Section 8. 3 of Agreement No. 3082) are hereby approved to be effective January 1, 1993 in lieu of October 1, 1992 .
