HomeMy WebLinkAbout17852 - RESOLUTIONS - 5/20/1992 RESOLUTION NO. 17852 OF THE CIITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING A LEASE WITH ART SPRINGS ARTISTS ASSOCIATION/RIVEP,SIDE COUNTY ARTS FOUNDATION FOR A LEASE ON PROPERTY KNOWN AS FRANCES STEVENS SCHOOL AT 550 NORTH PALM CANYON DRIVE, PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA. --------------------------------------- WHEREAS, the property located at 550 North Palm Canyon Drive, known " as the Frances Stevens School, has been vacant since the relocation of the Senior Center; and WHEREAS, the North Palm Canyon PAC recommended a compatible use with the Village Center for the Arts, also located on this site; and WHEREAS, the Art Springs Artists Association (ASAA) , a group of local artists interested in establishing an artist colony in the City of Palm Springs, has requested lease of this site; and WHEREAS, the ASAA is proposing to enter into this lease under the umbrella of the Riverside County Arts Foundation, who are allowing the ASAA to use their non-profit certification number while ASAS awaits processing of their own non-profit certification. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs as follows: SECTION 1. The Art Springs Artists Association be granted a five-year lease: with five one-year options as follows: Years 1 and 2 , rent-free in exchange for labor and materials to be supplied by ASAA toward the renovation of the interior of the space and the painting of the exterior. Year 3 through Year 5, rental payment of $1 per square foot, plus cost-of- living increases annually for the 4 , 838 feet of space. SECTION 2 . The lease documents be in a form acceptable to the City Attorney. ADOPTED this 20th day of _Maw, 1992 .
