HomeMy WebLinkAbout17838 - RESOLUTIONS - 5/6/1992 RESOLUTION NO. 17838 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE' CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, TEMPORARILY CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 1992 DESERT LESBIAN AND GAY PRIDE FESTIVAL AND PARADE. WHEREAS the City Council desires to facilitate the staging of special events to maximize revenue production; and WHEREAS the City Council approved in concept the temporary closure of specified City streets to allow special events to occur; and WHEREAS the City Council finds that in holding special events, the public interest and the benefits derived therefrom outweigh the temporary public inconvenience. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, as follows: Section 1. That the City Council finds that to allow the 1992 Desert Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade to occur, the temporary closure of certain streets is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to participate in the special event. This finding is made according to California Vehicle Code Section 21101. ' Section 2 . That the temporary street closures shall be as follows beginning at 11: 30 a.m, and ending at 1: 00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 1992 : A. E1 Cielo Road northbound, from Sonora to Sunny • Dunes, with only limited traffic permitted southbound to Fairchilds. B. Mesquite Avenue eastbound only, from E1 Cielo to Buena Vista. C. Cambridge Court Rd. northbound only. D. Mountain view Road and E1 Placer Road eastbounc onto E1 Cielo Road. ADOPTED this 6th day of May , 1992 .
