HomeMy WebLinkAbout17819 - RESOLUTIONS - 4/1/1992 ► RESOLUTION NO. 17819 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, TERMINATING EXISTING AGREEMENT NO. 2789 WITH THE PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL EXECUTED 11/15/89 AND APPROVING OF A NEW AGREEMENT GUARANTEEING THE FILM FESTIVAL $150, 000 IN CITY FUNDING ANNUALLY FOR FIVE YEARS, BEGINNING IN THE 1992-93 FISCAL YEAR WHEREAS the Palm Springs International Film Festival was established in January, 1990, and it was designed to provide cultural enrichment, enhance community spirit and promote tourism; and WHEREAS it has successfully completed its third year of operations with 81 premieres, attendance that reached over 29 , 000 and a .value that reached $20 million; and r WHEREAS the Palm Springs International Film Festival is a valuable asset to the community and its future financial security should be guaranteed, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City i of Palm Springs, that the City Council does hereby commit to a City funding level of $150, 000 per year for the next five years, beginning in fiscal year 1992-93 , rescinds the current contract and authorizes a new 5-year contract.
