HomeMy WebLinkAbout17514 - RESOLUTIONS - 5/15/1991 RESOLUTION NO. 17514 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A REVISION " TO THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE CULTURAL CENTER OF PALM SPRINGS, DBA PALM SPRINGS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (PSPAC). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WHEREAS on May 21, 1986, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 15880 authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cultural Center of Palm Springs for the future development of a Performing Arts Center on the 5.75 acre "Prairie Schooner Trailer Park" land the City is holding for its development; and WHEREAS the concept of a performing arts center has now expanded to a full entertainment complex inclusive of a sports arena and international pavilions, as well as other recreational and entertainment facilities, and WHEREAS the May 21, 1986 MOU calls for a status report to be prepared by the Cultural Center of Palm Springs each September; and WHEREAS the City Council enthusiastically endorses the design concept presented to it by the Palm Springs Performing Arts Center at its meeting of March 12, 1991. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs as follows: Section 1. That an alternate concept and location for the Performing Arts Center and related facilities as proposed to the City Council on March 12, 1991, is acceptable. Section 2. That, any party assuming option rights to the Prairie Schooner site, will assume the responsibility for the site under the terms and conditions provided for in the Memorandum of Understanding dated May 21, 1986, should the PSPAC choose to transfer its rights to another site. Section 3. That the Palm Springs Performing Arts Center continue the annual ► September reporting requirements to the City Council as specified in said Memorandum of Understanding dated May 21, 1986. Section 4. That the May 21, 1986 MOU is extended to July 31, 1992. Section 5. That purchase price for the property is $3,047,067.90 as of May 1, 1991 and said price shall increase at the rate of $449.50 per day thereafter. ADOPTED THIS 15th day of May 1991.
