HomeMy WebLinkAbout17510 - RESOLUTIONS - 5/1/1991 RESOLUTION NO. 17510 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM f SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA,, 'RELATIVE:RELATIVE TO HONORING ` AMERICAN ARMED FORCES INVOLVED IN THE P:E'sRSIAN GULF CONFLICT IN OPERATION DESERT STORM, AND ALLOCATING $10,000 FOR THIS PURPOSE AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED. WHEREAS `the men and women of -the Armed Forces have performed courageously and selflessly in achieving victory in the Persian Gulf Conflict and Operation Desert Storm; and W-HEREAS the veterans of our Armed Forces who served in Vietnam, Korea and other conflicts, to protect our freedom and way of life, as.e deserving of our recognition and gratitude; and "WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs enjoys a special relationship with those service personnel stationed at military bases throughout the region; and WHEREAS the City Council desires to show its support for, Armed Forcer who served during the Gulf war; and WIHBR1EAS the City Council has stated its support for our troops ov srseas and intends to honor our Armed Forces. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm 113rings, as follows: Section 1. That it supports the Chambex of Commerce in its Operation Desert. Victory Day Parade in Palm Springs on May 27 , 1991 by contributing a sum of $ 1, 500 from the Convention Center budget for the purpose of providing Police and barricade services. Section 2 . That $ 8, 500 from 'the Convention Center budget is " hereby authorized to be forwarded to the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fund for assistance to the " Marines and their families disrupted by Operation Desert Storm. Section 3 . That Resolution No, 17456 is hereby rescinded.
