HomeMy WebLinkAbout17496 - RESOLUTIONS - 4/17/1991 RESOLUTION NO. 17496 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A � REWARD AMOUNT FOR THE REPORTING OF INFORMATION LEADING TO THE IDENTITY AND APPREHENSION OF GRAFFITI VANDALS WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that graffiti on public and private property is obnoxious and a blighting factor which not only depreciates the value of the property which has been the target of such malicious vandalism, but also depreciates the value of the adjacent and ` surrounding properties , and in so doing negatively impacts the entire community; and WHEREAS, the City Council has instituted a program to remove graffiti from public and private property at the City' s expense; and ' WHEREAS, the City Council further finds and determines that the apprehension and punishment of graffiti vandals will deter future property destruction and will allow the City to recover the cost of graffiti, removal from those who applied it in the first place; and WHEREAS, the City Council further finds and determines that it is necessary to institute a reward program to encourage members of the public to report .incidents of graffiti vandalism which would lead to the apprehension of those individuals who willfully deface buildings by applying graffiti . NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of: Palm Springs that a reward of one hundred dollars ( $100 . 00 ) will be given to any member of the public for information leading to the determination of the identity of , and the apprehension of , any person who, by applying graffiti to any public or privately owned property, violates Section 11 .70 . 050 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code .
