OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS ,
CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING MAY 27, 1991, AS "OPER'ATION
DESERT VICTORY" DAY 'IN PALM SPRINGS, AND ALLOCATING `
$10,000 TO BE USED FOR A CELEBRATION/PARADE TO HONOR
AMERICAN SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN; AND APPOINT ED CASEBIER
AND ROLFE ARNHYM AS CO-CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE TO CO-
ORDINATE THIS EVENT AND FRANK CULLEN To SERVE AS
LIAISON BETWEEN ".CITE CITY COUNCIL AND THE COMMITTEE. �
WHEREAS the men and women of the Armed Services have performed
courageously and selflessly in achieving victory in the Persian
Gulf conflict and Operation Desert Storm; and
WHEREAS the veterans of our Armed Services who served in Vietnam,
Korea and other conflicts, to protect our freedom and way of life,
are deserving of our recognition and gratitude; and
WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs enjoys a special relationship with
those service personnel stationed at military bases throughout the
region; and
WHEREAS the City Council invites all patriotic Americana; to join in
this effort and show their support: for our troops who served during '
the Gulf War and all other prior conflicts were American troops
served; and
WHEREAS the City Council has stated its support: for our troops
overseas and intends to honor our Armed Forces on May 27, 1991.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Palm 'Springs, California, that it does hereby proclaim May 27, 1991
as "Operation Desert Victory Day" in Palm Springs, and that it is
allocating $10, 000 from the Convention Center budget to be used to
support this effort, and is appointing Ed Casebier and Rolfe Arnhym
as co-chairman of the coordinating committee and. Frank Cullen to
serve as liaison between the Council and the committee.
