HomeMy WebLinkAbout17209 - RESOLUTIONS - 7/25/1990 RESOLUTION NO. 17209 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH NICHOLS PROPERTIES, INC. AND BEGIN DESIGN AND PLANNING FOR A VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER. WHEREAS the City Council desires to establish a Visitor Information Center at the northern entrance to Palm Springs; and WHEREAS Nichols Properties, Inc. has offered use of a portion of the land described as 75 foot frontage of Palm Canyon Drive, as shown on Tentative Parcel Map No. 23130 for a two year period at no cost to the City; and WHEREAS in order to provide visitor information service, it is necessary to execute an agreement with Nichols Properties, Inc. ; establish a budget of $5,000 to begin planning and design of site improvements ; begin working with Cal Trans on Palm Canyon Drive ingress and egress and begin the CUP process to accomplish this goal . NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California as follows: Section 1. Staff is authorized to enter into an agreement with Nichols Properties, Inc. for use of the subject property. Section 2. Approve $5,000 to begin the planning and design of site improvements. Section 3. Direct staff to begin working with Cal Trans on Palm Canyon Drive access. Section 4. Direct staff to prepare an emergency ordinance excluding City from CUP process. Section 5. Authorize Purchasing Manager to negotiate for the lease/purchase of a 24 ft x 40 ft modular unit. Section 6. Authorize City Manager to execute documents necessary for the lease/purchase agreement of modular unit and foundation.
