HomeMy WebLinkAbout17160 - RESOLUTIONS - 6/20/1990 Resolution "A" RESOLUTION No. 17160 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, CONCERNING THE USE OF STYROFOAM PRODUCT CONTAINERS. WHEREAS available scientific evidence indicates that chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) deplete the earth's protective ozone layer when discharged into the atmosphere; and WHEREAS CF'C's are utilized in the manufacturing proccess of approximately ten 4 percent of polystyrene foam food product (styrofoam) containers; and WHEREAS styrofoam food product containers are not biodegradable if disposed of in a landfill; and I WHEREAS styrofoam food product continers are fully recyclable, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City (it Palm Springs that all citizens and businesses within the City are encouraged to retrain from utilizing styrofoam product containers unless they are recycled.
