RESOLUTION NO. 17119
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA APPROVING
RECOMMENDED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK
' GRANT FUNDING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR

_ WHEREAS the City is eligible to receive an entitlement of $317,000 of
Community Development Block Grant funds AS A central city under the
Department of Housing & Urban Development regulations, and
WHEREAS the City has approximately $135,000 available in existing Community
Development Block Grant budget to be reprogrammed into new eligible
projects, and
WHEREAS the funds must be used for eligible activities which principally
benefit low and moderate income people, and
WHEREAS the City Council appointed Citizen 's Advisory Commission
has held a public hearing to receive citizen's input on the allocation
of these funds, and
WHEREAS the City Council has held a public hearing to receive public
input on the allocation of these funds, and
WHEREAS the projects have been assessed by staff and the Citizen's Advisory
Commission, based on needs of low and moderate income neighborhoods to
benefit the maximum number of people;
NOW THEREFORE be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Palm
Springs, California does hereby approve the following allocations for
the Community Development Block Grant funding:
Administration costs: $ 27,800
Fair Housing Program: 35,000
Nightengale Manor Shelter for the Homeless: 12,000
' Palm Springs Police Department Community Project Officer
Desert Highland Neighborhood: 30,000
Desert Community Outreach AIDS Food Bank: 5,100
Single Family Home Rehabilitation & Senior Home Repair
Programs: 92,000
Self-Help Housing Land Acquisition: 48,000
Baristo Park Improvements: 35,000
Desert Highland Park Improvements: 54,100
Youth Center Improvements: 20,000
Senior Center Equipment and Furnishings: 60,000
Desert Highland Unity Center Fire Sprinklers Installation: 15,000
Desert AIDS Project: 15,000
Contingency: 3,000
TOTAL COST: $452,000
