CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
APRIL 19, 1988
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Palm Springs,
California, was called to order by Mayor Bogert, at the Council
Chamber, 3200 Tahquitz-McCallum Way on Tuesday, April 19, 1988
at 3 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Apfelbaum, Birer, Foster,
Smith and Mayor Bogert
Absent: None
The meeting was opened with the salute to the Flag and a moment
of silence.
REPORT OF POSTING OF AGENDA:
Report of City Clerk: Agenda posted in accordance with Council
policy on April 15, 1988.
LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
1. 1988 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Recommendation: That the Council declare i;he results
of the 1988 General Municipal Election, held April 12,
1988. Certificate of Clerk presented, declaring Sonny
Bono elected Mayor, and Earl Neel and Tuck Broich elected
as Members of the City Council , all for four year terms.

Resolution 16448 declaring results, was presented; after
which, it was moved by Birer, seconded by Smith, and
unanimously carried, that Resolution 16448 be adopted.
2. COMMENTS BY OUTGOING MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
Outgoing members expressed appreciation for Council , staff
and community support, and wished the new Council success
in its endeavors.
3. SWEARING-IN CEREMONY
City Clerk administered oaths of office to incoming Mayor
Sonny Bono, and Councilmembers Earl Neel and Tuck Broich; (70)
after which, each expressed appreciation to individuals
and groups, and looking forward to the next four years.
Congratulations were extended by a number of individuals,
and groups.
Council convened in study session.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor declared the meeting
adjourned.

17081 of the California 'Elections Code and the resolution adopted
by the city council, I did canvass the returns of the vote cast
at the General Municipal Election held in the
CITY OF PALM SPRINGS
on April 12, 1988 ; and I further certify that the Statement of
Votes Cast , to which this certificate is attached, shows the
whole number of ballots cast, and the whole number of votes cast
for each candidate for elective public, office .and for and against
each measure, in each precinct and in said City, and that the
totals as shown are complete and correct.
