HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/29/1987 - MINUTES 44;4 CITY OF PALM SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES DECEMBER 29, 1987 An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City 'Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, was called to order by Mayor Bogert, in the Council Chamber, 3200 Tahquitz-McCallum Way, on Tuesday, December 29, 1987, at 3 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Apfelbaum, Birer, Foster, Smith and Mayor Bogert Absent: None REPORT OF POSTING OF AGENDA: Report of City Clerk: Agenda posted in accordance with Council policy on December 23, 1987. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None LEGISLATIVE ACTION: 1. MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE - CLUB HOUSE REMODELLING Recommendation: That the Council approve Change Order No. 1 (Final ) to increase contract with J.M. Builders, by $33,684.96, for Municipal Golf Course Club House remodel- ling and improvements, final total amount $183,661. 96. Assistant City Engineer reviewed Memorandum of Director of Community Development, dated December 22, 1987, and reported that the Change Order covers a variety of changes requested by the architect, City Parks and Engineering staff, and Golf Course Concessionaire Carroll , all of which were closely monitored; that many should have been '— in the plans to begin with; that approval is needed prior to the end of 1987; that the alternate for painting was pre-bid and not included in the original award; that unknowns were discovered when the walls were actually torn into, e.g. , bearing walls were not shown as such. Minute Order 4108 approving Change Order as recommended, was presented; after which, it was moved by Foster, seconded by Smith, and unanimously carried, that Minute Order 4108 be adopted. 2. COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS It was unanimously determined that the need for action arose subsequent to the posting of the agenda. Mayor announced his appointments of Ray Hutchison to the Airport Commission, for unexpired term ending June 30, 19'8P9, and of Robert James to the Parks & Recreation Commission, for an unexpired term ending June 30, 1989; after which, it was moved by Smith, seconded by Foster, and unanimously carried, that said appointments be approved.
