HomeMy WebLinkAbout8/11/1987 - MINUTES CITY OF PALM--SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES AUGUST 11, 1987 A Special Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, was called to order by Mayor Bogert, in the Council Chamber, 3200 Tahquitz-McCallum Way, on Tuesday, August 11, 1987, at 3:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Apfelbaum, Smith and Mayor Bogert Absent: Councilmembers Birer and Foster SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE: Compliance on August 7, 1987. LEGISLATIVE ACTION: 1. MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE - PARKING LOT RECONSTRUCTION Consideration of awarding contract for reconstruction of the parking lot at the Municipal Golf Course to Matich Corporation, for $116,054, CP87-13. Assistant City Engineer stated that the course is shut down for overseeding and renovation, and the proposed (92) work can be completed within one month; that normal adver- tising for bids was followed, five contractors picked up specifications, but only two bids were received. Minute Order 3992, awarding contract as recommended, was presented; after which, it was moved by Apfelbaum, seconded by Smith, and unanimously carried, Birer and Foster absent, that Minute Order 3992 be adopted. 2. CP86-04 - CHIP SEAL Consideration of awarding contract for chip seal on portion of Avenida Caballeros, Tachevah, Paseo E1 Mirador, West Palm Canyon, South Palm Canyon, and Arenas Road, to Manhole Adjusting Contractors, for $192,410.50, Assistant City Engineer reviewed result of bids , and stated that three of the seven locations are near schools, and ( 136) efforts will be made to complete the work before school starts; that Caballeros and Tachevah will have an overlay later in the year, and the remaining five areas will qe slurried - probably in the Spring. Minute Order 3993, awarding contract as recommended, Agr N2470, was presented; after which, it was moved by Apfelbaum, seconded by Smith, and unanimously carried, Birer and Foster absent, that Minute Order 3993 be adopted.
