CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
JULY 28, 1987
An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of i;he City of
Palm Springs, California, was called to order by Niayor Bogert,
in the Council Chamber, 3200 Tahqui1tz-P9cCablum Way, on Tuesday,
July 28, 1987 at 3 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Birer, Foster, Smith and
Mayor Bogert
Absent: Councilmember Apfelbaum
REPORT OF POSTING OF AGENDA:
Report of City Clerk: Agenda posted in accordance with
Council policy on July 24, 1987
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None
LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
2. CONVENTION CENTER - CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDERS
On June 23, 1987 Council continued consideration of Change
Orders 7 - 12 to increase contract with McDevitt & Street
for construction of the Convention Center.
Economic Development & Housing Director stated that the
change orders have been reviewed in detail by the Council
at prior study sessions and meetings; and that the remaining
issue to be discussed related to the impact of the change
orders on the time completion requirement; that a verbal
agreement has been reached to approve an additional fourteen
days relative to Change Order No. 7, although the contractor
is committing his best effort to completing 'the project
by December 1, and an actual change order to cover the
extension will be submitted as the completion date draws
closer; that no further time extensions are anticipated; (139)
and that the total of the change orders is $258,062.
He also stated that additional Change Orders 13 through
17 are proposed, and distributed copies -tor review, noting
that a recommendation will be submitted to 'the Council
in the near future.
In answer to question by Council , the Director and Assistant
City Manager each confirmed that staff is pursuing its
investigation as to assignment of responsibility (architect,
engineer or other) and is believes it does not rest with
the general contractor.
NO 3980, approving Change Orders 7 through 12, as recom-
mended, was presented; after which, it was moved by Foster,
seconded by Birer, and unanimously carried, Apfelbaum
absent, that Minute Order 3980 be adopted.

2. CONVENTION CENTER - HUNTCOR CONTRACT
Consideration of amendment to HuntCor contract to increase
_ scope of services as owner's representative relative to
the construction of the project.
This matter was not ready, and is to be rescheduled.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor declared the meeting
adjourned.
