HomeMy WebLinkAbout16991 - RESOLUTIONS - 1/3/1990 y: 4 RESOLUTION NO. 16991 RESOLUTION OF THE: CITY COUNCIL OF THE C [TY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DIRECTING SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON TO STANDARDIZE A CUT STYLE LUMINAIRE: FOR ALL INTERSECTION SAFETY LIGHTING WITHIN THE CITY. WHEREAS the City has had a policy to light all roadway intersection for traffic safety purposes; and WHEREAS the technology in street lighting has changed over the years resulting in the upgrading of both type of lighting as well as style of fixture; and WHEREAS the City is desirous of replacing all outdated fixtures with the most environmentally sensitive, efficient and attractive fixture available; 4 and WHEREAS Southern California Edison Company owns the majority of lighting fixtures within the City and has offered to update all of the old type fixtures on a cost sharing basis with the City and to provide the new type fixture on all new installations at no additional cost to the City. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, does hereby adopt the high pressure sodium vapor, cut-oFf style cobra head luminaire as the standard for intersection safety lighting within the City and directs Southern California Edison Company to proceed with its program to standardize all fixtures.
