HomeMy WebLinkAbout16988 - RESOLUTIONS - 1/3/1990 RESOLUTION NO. 16988 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 10, 1990 FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES. WHEREAS under the provisions of the laws relating to General Law Cities in the State of California, a regular General Municipal Election shall be held on Tuesday, April 10, 1990 for the election of two members of the City Council (Sharon Apfelbaum and William Foster, incumbents) of said City each for the full term of four years; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs as follows: Section 1 . The ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. Section 2. That the ballots submitted to the qualified electors of said City shall contain the following question(s) to-wit: 4 G Shall the ordinance which limits rents on certain asidentiaLultits_.be. d0_p_tesl? -_ . _ Shall] the ordinance which limits rents on certain ( residential units, and which relates to relocation benefits for mobile home owners upon change of ` use of a mobil e r e..home park, be adoptd?._.._..._............._. . ... . _..._ .._. Each measure shall be designated on the ballot by a letter printed on the left margin of the square containing description of the measure, as provided in Section 10219 of the Elections Code. In the event a measure receives a greater number of YES votes than NO votes, the measure shall be deemed approved by the voters. 1 In the event a measure receives a greater number of NO votes than YES votes, the measure shall be deemed disapproved by the voters. w In the event both measures receive a greater number of YES votes than NO votes, the measure receiving • the greatest number of YES votes shall prevail . Section 3. The City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish, through the Registrar of Voters for the County of Riverside, or other resource as necessary, • any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia y that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. ;`age 2 r Section 4. The polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. on the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o'clock p.m. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California. Section 5. In all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. Section 6. Notice of 'time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such , further or additional notice of said election, in time, form and manner as required by law. a- Section 7. That said City shall reimburse said County, or other resource, for services performed when the work is completed and upon presentation to the City of a properly approved bill . Section 8. Pursuant to Section 22932.5 of the Elections Code ; of the State of California, the canvass of the Regular General Municipal Election to be held " in said City is hereby ordered to be made by the City Clerk. Section 9. The City Clerk of said City shall prior to the Tuesday following the election cause to be completed the canvass of said election and shall certify 1 the results to this City Council on April 17, 1990. Section 10. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted..
