HomeMy WebLinkAbout4/17/1984 - MINUTES )b6 CITY OF PALM SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES APRIL 17, 1984 An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Bogert, in the Large Conference Room, City Hall , on Tuesday, April 17, 1984, at 3 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Maryanov, Smith and Mayor Bogert Absent: Councilman Foster LEGISLATIVE ACTION: 1 . GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION - 1984 City Clerk presented certificate, as follows, indicating the names of the persons voted for; and the number of votes given for each person, in each precinct in the City, and presented Resolution 15006, reciting the results of the election and declaring and determining that: a) Frank Bogert was elected Mayor of said City (83) for the full term of two years; b) Richard J. Smith was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; and c) Eli Birer was elected Member of the City Council of said City for the fell term of four years. and entitled: OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 10, 1984, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. It was moved by Maryanov, seconded by Smith, and unanimously carried, Foster absent, that Resolution 15006 be adopted. EXHIBIT A I, JUDITH SUMICH, City Clerk of the City of Palm Springs, County of Riverside, State of California, duly authorized by Resolution adopted by the City Council of said City, adopted on the 4th day of January, 1984, do herby certify that I have caused the returns of the regular general muni- cipal election held in said City on the loth day of April , 1984, to be canvassed by the Registrar of Voters, and find that the number of votes given in the City to persons voted for, the respective offices for which said persons were candidates, are shown attached hereto. SWEARING-IN City Clerk administered oath of office to Frank Bogert, Richard Smith and Eli Birer, and presented (70) a Certificate of Election to each; after which comments and expressions of appreciation were offered by the newly elected officials. 3. MAYOR PRO TEM City Clerk reported that Council Rules of Procedure prescribe that the Mayor pro tem shall be elected at the meeting following the General Municipal Election. (70) It was moved by Smith, seconded by Birer, and unanimously carried, Foster absent, that Lloyd Maryanov be elected as Mayor pro tem for the following year.
