HomeMy WebLinkAbout1557 - ORDINANCES - 7/1/1998 ORDINANCE NO. 1557 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 2.18.010 OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE, CONCERNING THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DOE'- ORDAIN, as follows: SECTION 1. SECTION 2.18.010 of Chapter 2.18 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code is hereby amended to read, as follows: "2.18.010 Created --Term. (a) There is created a parks and recreation commission for the city. It shall consist of nine members serving without compensation, appointed in the manner and for the terms prescHbed in Sections 2.04.060 and 2.06,010 respectively of this code. (b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Sections 2.04.060 and 2.060.010, the Palm Springs Unified School District Superintendent of Schools, or designee thereof may serve as a non-voting member to serve as a liaison between the commission and the school district. Said designee shall not be a student, elected official, or teacher c the district; and neither t11e Superintendent or the designee shall be required to be residents and registered voters of the city, but in all other respects shall be subject to the provisions of any and all laws, rules or regulations governing the members of boards or commissions of the city. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect ' thirty (30) days after passage. SECTION 3. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance, and to cause the same or a summary thereof i a display advertisement, duly prepared according to law, to be published in accordall, C with law.
