CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
JULY 19, 1983
An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to order
by Mayor pro tem Doyle, in the Large Conference Room, City Hall ,
3200 Tahquitz-McCallum Way, at 9 a.m.
ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Doyle, Foster, and Ortner
Absent: Councilmember Maryanov and Mayor Bogert
,i LEGISLATIVE ACTION:
1 . TAHQUITZ-ANDREAS REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
City Clerk read title of Ordinance 1187, as follows
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE
PALM SPRINGS REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. (133 &
124)
It was moved by Foster, seconded by Ortner, and unanimously
carried, that further reading be waived, and that Ordinance
1187 be adopted.
2. SPECIAL TAX/POLICE
City Attorney stated that in revising the language of the
proposed ordinance, in-line with action of the Council on
July 12, 1983, he assumed that the Council approved the fee
schedule as proposed by the Task Force, since it approved (140)
$25 for residential and a no-tax for undeveloped properties
until improved, which would mean a $50 tax for commercial ;
and questioned if it was the Council ' s intent to leave the
commercial rate, $48. 55, as shown on the face or alter that
to $50. He stated that if the $50 tax was intended, the ordi-
nance should be reintroduced, otherwise he would construe
his revision as an error and no reintroduction would be
necessary.
It was the consensus of the Council , that there had been no
discussion regarding the commercial tax, and it was not intended
to alter that which the consultant had recommended, i .e. ,
leave the tax for commercial at $48.55.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, at 9:15 p.m. , Mayor pro tem
declared the meeting adjourned.
