CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
JUNE 28, 1983
An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Palm '
Springs, was called to order by Mayor Bogert, in the Council Chamber,
City Hall , 3200 Tahquitz McCallum Way, on Tuesday, June 29, 1983,
at 2 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Doyle, Foster, Maryanov, Ortner,
and Mayor Bogert
Absent: None
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY: Mayor declared the meeting adjourned
for the purpose of convening as the Community Redevelopment Agency;
after which, members reconvened as the City Council .
CLOSED SESSION (Personnel ) : Council adjourned to Closed session in
the adjacent Small Conference Room; and reconvened at 2:25 p.m. Assistant
City Manager reported status of negotiations with the Police Unit,
presently at impasse.

Mayor inquired if anyone in the audience wished to be heard on this POLICE
issue ; there were no appearances; after which the Council adjourned to COMPNSTN
Closed Session (personnel ) , and reconvened at 2:55 p.m. (110)
Councilman Doyle read offers to be made regarding police compensa-
tion, to be contained in resolution format, which shall include
provision that existing salaries and benefits for the police unit
shall remain until such time as one of the specified offers is
accepted ; such accepted offer shall be in effect no sooner than
July 1 for benefits and July 3 for salaries, or date of acceptance
and notification of MERR, whichever is later; and there shall be
no retroactivity. It was moved by Doyle, seconded by Maryanov, '
and unanimously carried, that the offers and conditions as reported
by Councilman Doyle be embodied in Resolution 14646 and it be
adopted.

City Manager briefly reviewed the proposed budget (hearing
conducted 6-15-83) including changes as previously directed (61 )
by Council .
Resolutions 14647 and 14648, adopting the 1983-84 budget,
and approving the Allocated Position and Compensation Plans, '
were presented; after which, it was moved by Maryanov, seconded
by Ortner, and unanimously carried, that Resolutions 14647
and 14648 be adopted.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business at 3:35 p.m. , Mayor declared
the meeting adjourned.
