HomeMy WebLinkAbout1476 - ORDINANCES - 6/29/1994 ORDINANCE NO. 1476 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS AMENDING SECTION 8 RELATING TO UTILITY USER TAX ORDINANCE NO. 1454 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 8 of Ordinance No. 1454 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 8 . Operative Dates. This Ordinance is an ordinance relating to taxes for the usual and current expenses of the City and shall take effect immediately pursuant to Government Code Section 36937 (d) . The taxes imposed under this ordinance shall apply to services furnished from the beginning of the first billing cycle which starts on or after September 30, 1993 . Section 2 . URGENCY. The City Council hereby declares this ordinance to be an emergency measure in accordance with Government Code Section 65858 due to the fact that suspension of collection of the Utility Users Tax would impose a significant and immediate financial hardship on the City. Section 3 . OPERATIVE DATE. This Ordinance is an ordinance relating to taxes for the usual and current expenses of the City and shall take effect immediately pursuant to Government Code Section 36937 (d) . Section 4 . PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and to cause the same or a summary thereof or a display advertisement, duly prepared according to law, to be published in accordance with law.
