HomeMy WebLinkAbout1431 - ORDINANCES - 1/20/1993 ORDINANCE NO. 1431 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA DISESTABLISHING THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1340, WHICH ESTABLISHED THE DISTRICT. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. DISESTABLISHMENT OF DISTRICT. The Downtown Business Improvement District is hereby disestablished, pursuant to Section 36550 of the California Streets and Highways Code. SECTION 2. REPEAL OF PRIOR ORDINANCE. Ordinance No. 1340, which established the District is hereby repealed. SECTION 3. RESOLUTION OF INTENTION. Pursuant to the California Streets and Highways Code Section 36550, Resolution No. entitled "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California Declaring its Intention to Disestablish the Downtown Business Improvement District etc." was adopted on December 16, 1992. SECTION 4. PURPOSE/BENEFIT. The purpose of this ordinance is to remove a major point of contention between the downtown businesses, and to promote a spirit of cooperation for the future. SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty 30 days after passage. SECTION 6 PUBLICATION. The City Cleric is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance, and to cause the same to be published not later than fifteen (15) days from the adoption of this ordinance in The Desert Sun, a daily newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Palm Springs, California. ADOPTED this 20th day of January 1993.
