HomeMy WebLinkAbout1428 - ORDINANCES - 11/24/1992 ORDINANCE NO. 1428 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 2.45.030 (b) OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING TERMS AND VACANCIES ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 2.45.030 (b) of the Palm Springs Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.45.030 (b), Term--Vacancies. Members of the commission shall be appointed or removed in accordance with and shall be subject to all of the provisions of Chapter 2.06 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code, as said Chapter now reads, or as it may thereafter be amended from time to time; provided, however, that of the nine members first appointed, two shall serve a term ending June 30, 1994; two shall serve a term ending June 30, 1995; three shall serve a term ending June 30, 1996; and two shall serve a term ending June 30, 1997. Such terms shall be drawn by lot at the first meeting of the commission following the appointment of said nine members. Notwithstanding the provisions of Chapter 2.06, members whose terms expire sooner than July 1, 1994, shall be eligible for reappointment to a succeeding full term. A vacancy in the commission shall not impair the right of the remaining members to exercise the powers of the commission pursuant to this chapter. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after passage. SECTION 3. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance, and to cause the same or a summary thereof or a display advertisement, duly prepared according to law, to be published in accordance with law.
