HomeMy WebLinkAbout1424 - ORDINANCES - 9/23/1992 ORDINANCE NO. 1424 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 2.23.030 OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE, CONCERNING MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES OF THE VISITOR & PROMOTION BOARD. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 2.23.020 of Chapter 2.23 of the PSMC is herby amended to read as follows: 2.23.020 Visitors and promotion board--Creation. There is created within e ci y a visj tors and promo ion board -_consis ing of eleven members, appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council , to serve at the pleasure of the city council . One member of the city council shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council as a non-voting member of said board and shall serve at the pleasure of the city council . (Ord. 1327 J2(part), 1989). SECTION 2. Section 2.23.030 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.23.030 Term--Vacancies--Vote. Members of the board of directors shall be appointedor removed to accordance with and shall be subject to all the provisions of Chapter 2.06 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code, as said Chapter now reads, or as it may thereafter be amended from time to time; provided that one member shall be appointed to a term beginning July 1, 1992 and expiring June 30, 1994. Exitigg terms will remain in effect as follows: three terms ending June 30, 19'02�two terms ending June 30, 1994, two terms ending June 30, 1995, and three terms ending June 30, 1996. Members of the board of directors shall have the following qualifications: One member shall be an owner, manager or representative from hotels with one to twenty-five rooms; One member shall be an owner, manager or representative from hotels with twenty-six to fifty rooms; One member shall be an owner, manager or representative from hotels with fifty-one to one hundred twenty-five rooms; One member shall be an owner, manager or representative from hotels with one hundred twenty-six to one hundred forty-nine rooms; One member shall be an owner, manager or representative from hotels with one hundred fifty or more rooms; One member shall represent the restaurant business; One member shall represent the real estate industry; Three members shall represent retail merchants; and One member shall be a citizen at large, actively involved in tourism. A vacancy in the board shall not impair the right of the remaining members to exercise the powers of the board pursuant to this chapter. Six members shall constitute a quorum of the board, and any ruling, decision or other action of the board may be taken by a majority of those members present, provided a quorum is present. SECTION 14 EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after passage. 3 ©,tzB. No. 1424 ��-- Page 2 SECTION 15. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance, and to cause the same or a summary thereof or a display advertisement:, duly prepared according to law, to be published in accordance with law.
