AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE IN
REGARD TO OFFICE USES IN THE DOWNTOWN.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The introduction to Section 9209. 00 of the Zoning
Ordinance is amended with the addition of the following:
"The Historic Village Center, within the Central Business
District, is intended to serve as the center of the Downtown
with the primary economic activities focusing on specialty
retail, restaurants and entertainment. The following streets
shall be deemed to be within the Historic Village Center: Palm
Canyon Drive, between Amado and Baristo Roads; Tahquitz Canyon
Way, between Belardo Road and Indian Canyon Drive; Andreas
Road, between Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives; Arenas
Road, between Belardo Road and Indian Canyon Drive; and
Baristo Road, northerly side, between Palm Canyon and Indian
Canyon Drives. "
SECTION 2 . Section 9209. 01A.31. of the Zoning Ordinance is amended
to read as follows:
"Offices (except contractors) and financial institutions, but
offices and financial institutions shall not exceed 5, 000 sq.
ft. of gross floor area if located on the street level nor
front a street within the Historic Village Center. "
SECTION 3 . Section 9209.01C. 1. of the Zoning Ordinance is amended
with the addition of the following:
"q. Offices (except contractors) and financial institutions
on the street level which are in excess of 5, 000 sq. ft.
of gross floor area, but offices and financial
institutions which front a street within the Historic
Village Center shall not exceed 2,500 sq. ft. of gross
floor area. "
SECTION 4 . Section 9209. 01D.4. of the Zoning Ordinance is amended
to read as follows:
"Financial institutions with drive-through facilities. "
SECTION 5. Section 9209. O1D.11. of the Zoning Ordinance is amended
to read as follows:
"Offices (except contractors) and financial institutions in
excess of 2,500 sq. ft. of gross floor area which front a
street within the Historic Village Center. "
SECTION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect thirty (30) days after passage.
SECTION 7. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and
directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance, and to cause
the same or a summary thereof or a display advertisement, duly
prepared according to law, to be published in accordance with law.
