AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS,
CALIFORNIA REPEALING ORDINANCE 1318 AND
READOPTING PROVISIONS RELATING TO RECRUIT-
MENT, SELECTION AND TRAINING OF POLICE
PERSONNEL.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this ordinance is to qualify the City
of Palm Springs to receive aid from the Standards and Training For Corrections
Program, and to continue qualification for aid from the Peace Officer Training
Fund, both funds of the State of California. A secondary purpose is to
comply with State requirements that assurances of adherence to standards
be adopted by ordinance.
SECTION 2. DECLARATION OF INTENT. The City declares that it desires to
qualify to receive aid from the Standards and Training for Corrections Program
of the State of California pursuant to the provisions of Penal Code Sections
6040 et seq. , and from the Peace Officers' Training Fund of the State of
California for police officers and police dispatchers pursuant to the
provisions of Penal Code Sections 13510 et seq. and 13520 et seq.
SECTION 3. ADHERENCE TO STANDARDS OF STATE BOARD OF CORRECTIONIS. While
receiving any State Aid pursuant to Article 3, commencing with Section 6040
of the California Penal Code, the City of Palm Springs will adhere to the
standards for selection and training established by the Board of Corrections.
SECTION 4. ADHERENCE TO STANDARDS OF STATE COMMISSION ON PEACE OFFICER
STANDARDS AND TRAINING. While receiving aid from the State pursuant to
Penal Code Sections 13510 et seq. and 1.3520 et seq. , the City will adhere
to the standards for recruitment and training established by the State
Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty (30) days after passage.
SECTION 6. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this Ordinance, and to cause the same or a
summary 'thereof or a display advertisement, duly prepared according to lava,
to be published in accordance with law.
