AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING SECTION 2.23.030 OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL
CODE, REGULATING THE TERM, VACANCIES AND VOTE OF THE
MEMBERS OF THE VISITORS AND PROMOTION BOARD.
!r THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2.23 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code relating
to the Visitors and Promotion Board is hereby amended by changing Section
2.23.030 to read as follows :
2.23.030 TERM--VACANCIES--VOTE. Members of the Commission
shall serve for the term provided by Chapter 2.06 of the Palm
Springs Municipal Code, except that three members shall be appointed
to terms expiring June 30, 1990; three members, to terms expiring
on June 30, 1991; and three members, to terms expiring on June 30,
1992. Members of the Board shall be appointed as follows:
Two (2) members shall be owners, general managers or directors
of sales and/or marketing representing hotels with over 150 rooms.
Two (2) members shall be owners, general managers or directors
of sales and/or marketing representing hotels with less than 150
rooms.
Four (4) members shall represent the retail , restaurant or
services industry of the community.
One ( 1) member shall represent the citizenry-at-large who
has an interest in tourism.
A vacancy in the Board shall not impair the right of the
remaining members to exercise the powers of the Board pursuant
to this chapter. Five members shall constitute a quorum of the
Board, and any ruling, decision or other action of the Board may
be taken by a majority of those members present, provided a quorum
is present.
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect thirty (30) days after passage.
SECTION 3. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this Ordinance , and to cause the same
or a summary thereof or a display advertisement, duly prepared according
to law, to be published in accordance with law.
